This pandemic and how we see the world

About this pandemic, this is where I truly believe in hope. While growing up we never used to get serious with words such as hope, positivity, optimism, etc. but looking at the times we live in now these words are our only way out of our current situation and give us some confidence.

They say the last devastating pandemic was witnessed in 1918 Spanish flu that lasted for 2 years,  I suppose during those times there wasn't a concept of globalization, technology, and no scientific advances like we have today.

What has changed now is that we live in a modern world which means if a person gets infected 10,000 miles away from your place, It can travel inroads to your place quite quickly (what we witnessed with the current pandemic), thanks to globalization

With technology, we saw how quickly awareness was raised through various social mediums but we never imagined how panic would be caused due to fake & agenda-based news leading to serious mental consequences.

With science, we were able to make vaccines at break-neck speed but never imagined how wealthy nations with deep pockets would stockpile the vaccines over the current consumption capacity leaving the masses of the poor nations to die.

With all these in mind, where are we headed? How have we let these new instruments of modern society improve our lives, have we really evolved as humans? (food for thought!!)

Have we changed? In fact with these advances, some of us have become more disconnected and inward from the world around us. The word social has lost its essence, our problems have changed for sure but underlying root causes for our troubles have not. We still place ourselves first before thinking of others in need...

We don't know when this pandemic would end but I strongly believe in what Bill Gates once said "Covid-19 anywhere is Covid-19 everywhere" with that in mind we shouldn't get complacent till the virus is completely eradicated from the last infected person on this planet & until that is done we must stop making plans as we never planned for the day we are facing today
